Haiti’s agricultural sector is subject to natural disasters

INHO Agriculture

Haiti’s agricultural sector is subject to natural disasters (storms, floods, drought), poor soil quality, as well as limited access to modern technology and practices. At INHO, children, youth, and young adults learn about the importance of rehabilitating the agricultural sector. Once a year INHO children and youth invite other young people from neighbouring villages and cities to participate in a camp on agriculture. During this one-day camp, they plant beans and learn about the importance of agriculture:

  • to combat hunger & poverty
  • to contribute to Haiti’s economic development

Major agriculture problems in Haiti:

-soil erosion

-recurrent drought

-absence of irrigation
